I was back at Speke Hall again this Monday and worked up the painting from some photo’s I took; for obvious reasons no paint is allowed indoors. I was quiet struck by this scene in the child’s bedroom. All ready for bath night with a nightdress laid out on the bed next to a book of poems, it was if she’d return any minute. In the passage way stuffed birds in glass cases gathered dust and the silence of the hall was punctuated by the slow tick tock tick of a grandfather clock.
