Published Article

I’ve just had an article published in the June edition of Leisure Painter.  It’s all about still life with a twist. Here’s the blurb.

The Usual Suspects
Did you ever look at a still life and get the feeling that you’ve probably seen it all before? I have.  No matter how I changed the arrangement or the props, I couldn’t escape the feeling that frankly, it was my turn to boldly go where other people had gone before. I was painting the usual suspects.

A look at the genre of past still life paintings and the traditional themes,  right up to the quiet non events that are painted today.

There’s no reason why still life painting can’t carry a message in the title, no matter how tongue in cheek or whimsical that may be.

The artist tells how he takes titles or phrases from films, songs, old adages or turns of phrase and how he represents them in a still life painting.
