21cm x 14cm acrylic on canvas board.

All the Liverpool paintings are for sale and are all the same size. Mounted originals £90, acrylic prints ready to hang £28 and mounted prints £13.

A view of Liverpool Town Hall. I managed to come across a similar painting by Trevor Chamberlain, probably from about twenty years ago. Still waiting on the cards of the Liverpool Paintings to materialise.

Orrell Art Class

21cm x 14cm acrylic copy of a Ted Goerschner painting

Ted Goerschner. Oil

Read the handout on compositition. Remember to work with lots of paint wet in wet and don't fiddle trying to put in detail. Work from either the painting we did today No.1., or the Goerschner below No.2. No class next Tuesday so see you all in two weeks.

Liverpool Paintings Exhibition.

21cm x 14cm acrylic prints ready to hang £28.

Some of the Liverpool paintings are being exhibited at the Gallery in town. A selection of 10 acrylic prints are on show and available to order. The opening night went really well with 9 copies being sold, some more than once.

All 120 of the Liverpool paintings are now available at the same size as the originals, 21cm x 14cm, on acrylic, as shown above, or the more conventional print in a mount at £13.

I am currently in the process of having 7x5 inch cards produced and hope to have them within the next week.

Art Class

For students attending the art classes simply access the painting we were working on and complete it in your own time if you need to finish. Read the handouts before starting. See you next week.

Picture used below is an adaptation of a Ted Goerschner from the book, 'Oil Painting:The Workshop Experience.'

Monochromatic

Monochrome painting, or painting with mainly one color, using different values of that colour. Lightening or blending with white and darkening with a neutral gray or black. Do this type of painting to understand the importance of tone or the distribution of light and dark in the picture. Nothing is defined in the picture, I don’t want you to think of detail, only areas of light and dark and balance them in an abstract way. This approach works well with a winter scene. There are many other colours on the wheel, try another.

The Brisons

24cm x 24cm mixed media collage on paper.

Drawing out at the Brisons, (or General de Gaulle, laying in the bath) at Cape Cornwall. I've been working from some old drawings and photos, but it doesn't come close to the real thing.
