Out Of the Blue.

One of the 'Still Life With a Twist' series that I've revisited and tidied up a little; I never originally liked the background, I was too interested in the main idea but this one looks a little better. I think it serves to remind me that all areas of the study play their part.

Limes.

I donated a
small painting to the Cornerstone Gallery's annual charity event and had a nice review by Rachel Tillett.
‘Limes’ which depicts a still life study of a pair of
limes. The oil on paper study is bright and vibrant with the lime green being a
striking contrast against the brown and black background. The foreshortening of
the limes is portrayed well with the use of shadow, tone and form. The painting
is reminiscent of Cezanne’s apple studies, although this postcard variation on
the classic still life gives it a contemporary and modern twist.’

The easiest place to do still life is in your own back garden. There'll never be any regrets about what you forgot to bring, just pop back indoors and get it. You can always find shelter if it's too wet, warmth if it's too cold, or this weather, shade if it's too hot.
